I've always wanted a Seiko 5 with lumibrite dial. Last week I came across an Ebay seller who had one on offer. He was from Singapore and relatively new on Ebay, but the watch looked genuine on the pictures. US$22.50 +5.00 shipping was okay. I didn't suspect anything, because people are afraid of buying from new Ebayers.

However, the watch arrived today and it looked dodgy. The dial print and the bracelet are of poor quality. The reference number on the tag belongs to a different watch.

The day quickset is done by pushing the crown and the date can be set by pulling the crown and rotating it. So I opened it and found this:

Quality movement, innit? WTF is this?

I'm currently in the process of discussing the matter with the seller. That's why I am not yet posting his name and the auction number. In case you find a cheap Seiko 5 on Ebay, be careful if the case back says Japan and the reference number ends with K. The reference of a Japan made Seiko ends with J.
