Not Asian, but I thought the results were good enough to post.

I used a mediam/light grit sandpaper to sand down through all the scratches, then put a little brasso on the crystal and used 1500 grit sandpaper to smooth down all the sanding scratches. The moisture the brasso provides lets the sandpaper slide nice and smooth over the surface. I used a piece of 1/4" felt between my fingers and the sandpaper, this keeps from putting to much pressure in just one area. I kept polishing the crystal this way until it looked foggy, but smooth. Then just used brasso and a paper towel wrapped finger to finish it up. I used some Meguiars mirror glaze 17 clear plastic cleaner as a final polish.

I used some simple green to clean the gunk off the watch, just sprayed it onto a paper towel and rubbed it clean. Then I used a cape cod cloth to polish the case, caseback, and bezel. There's a small screw down cap on the caseback to access the battery. It was a little rough from battery changes. I sanded it down and polished it, now it looks as though it was never opened.

Here's the good part, I'm not even sure it runs. I'm heading to get a new battery for it now. When I started working on it, it was really just for practice. Now I want to
wear it. If it runs, I'll decide then what it needs, a strap or bracelet. Suggestions?

The watch is an electric, or an electro-mechanical. Jack told me a little about it.
I also googled electro-mechanical and came up with this info.

BENRUS ELECTRONIC CITATION. SWISS MADE. CIRCA 1970S. ONE OF THE VERY EARLIEST ELECTRONIC MOVEMENTS.

ELECTRONIC WATCHES ARE NOT QUARTZ, THEY'RE HALF ELECTRIC AND HALF MECHANICAL . THEY USE AN ELECTRO MAGNET TO SWING THE BALANCE WHEEL, FROM THERE THE REST OF THE WATCH RELIES ON MECHANICS TO MAKE THE WATCH FUNCTION.

Here's a before and after pic.

I can't take a picture of the movement. You need a crystal claw puller to open it.
But, here's a picture I found of a Benrus electro-mechanical movement.

Sorry for such a long post, but I thought it might be helpful and interesting.

When Jack sees this, I'm sure I'll be relocating to North Carolina to help out at IWW.
