they are being resized. If you can, reduce the pixel resolution of the shots to 72dpi and the picture size to 800x600. You won't loose any resolution on the average computer monitor and the pictures will be larger :>)

      2 things:

The stated resolution of your picture does not matter when displayed on the web, every picture will be displayed as 1 pixel per 1 dot, regardless of whether you have chosen (for future print or other reasons) to save at 72dpi, 144dpi, e
      tc.

You can trim a large chunk (maybe 30-40K?) off your pictures by stripping the EXIF data when saving them as JPGs. This is the information about your camera settings when taking the picture. On your posted pic, it looks like this:

      Camera Make: Canon
Camera Model: Canon DIGITAL IXUS 40
      Image Date: 2006:08:11 15:16:26
      Flash Used: No
      Focal Length: 5.8mm
      CCD Width: 3.41mm
      Exposure Time: 0.100 s (1/10)
      Aperture: f/2.8
      White Balance: Auto

If you are using a PhotoShop product, when saving your properly-sized picture, choose "Save for web" rather than "Save" or "Save as" and the EXIF will not be included in your final JPG, thus saving that upload volume. Irfanview (and I assume) any other legitimate photo editing software also have ways of accomplishing this. Plus, you will get to use that extra size to post a larger picture, if you like!
      • Steve...how can I view the EXIF data? nt - Ben Shilled(-42) on Aug 11, 2006, 08:16 AM
